MEDITATION

MEDITATION ON A BROKEN WORLD "In the end, man destroyed the heaven that was called earth. The earth had been beautiful until the spirit of man moved over it and destroyed all things. And man said... Let there be darkness...and there was darkness. And man liked the darkness: so he called the darkness "security". And he divided himself into races and religions and classes of society. And there was no evening and no morning on the seventh day before the end. And man said... Let there be strong government to control us in our darkness. Let there be armies to control our bodies, so that we may learn to kill one another neatly and efficiently in our darkness. And there was no evening and no morning on the sixth day before the end. And man said... Let there be rockets and bombs to kill faster and easier: Let there be gas chambers and furnaces to be more thorough. And there was no evening and no morning on the fifth day before the end. And man said... Let there be drugs and other forms of escape, for there is this constant annoyance- REALITY which is disturbing our comfort. And there was no morning and no evening on the fourth day before the end. And man said... Let there be divisions among nations, so that we may know who is our common enemy. And there was no morning and no evening on the third day before the end. And finally man said... Let us create God in our image. Let some other God compete with us. Let us say that God thinks- as we think, hates as we hate, and kills as we kill. And there was no morning and no evening on the second day before the end. On the LAST day there was a great noise on the face of the earth. Fire consumed the beautiful globe, and there was ---- SILENCE. The blackened earth now rested to worship the one true God; And God saw all that man had done and in the silence over the smouldering ruins HE WEPT." [ From G.A. Maloney, S.J., Broken But Loved ]

African Prayer

"Blessing of a New Baby " “May your face be radiant like the rising sun. May your smile brighten the cloudy sky. May your cries always find a gentle response. May your first steps fall on firm ground. May your first sounds speak peace like the morning dew. May your first teeth be as white as Kilimanjaro’s peak May your ears be open to the bidding of your mother and father. May your hands perform good works for your family and clan. May your head bow low in respect before your elders. Amen! ”

Prayer transforms you

You are invited to prayerfully reflect on the following:

Enjoy a few quite moments of silence before reading the following… Let all the tension in you flow away… Read the following insights one by one; allow each sentence to touch your inner self… Do not rationalize… Just wonder… Let your whole self be changed for the better…

The Spirit is praying within you!

  • Amazing Grace!I have been granted the gift of another day! TODAY !

  • How did the universe come to be? However brilliant, educated, or experienced we may be, we do not know everything that there is to know…

  • The more we know , the more we realize that we do not know…
  • Happiness is not tomorrow.Happiness is now!
  • In every word I say, each action I perform, God intervenes in history.
  • "When you pass through the waters I will be with you;and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour." Praying with the Bible 4

[Is there no one to listen? You ask. Ah yes, There is one who listens, Who will always listen. Listen to Him my friend! He waits for you there!]
"Be still and know that I am God.
I am exalted among the nations,
I am exalted in the earth!
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge. " (Psalm 46: 10-11)
.............................................................................................................
The Triune God, Father-Son- Spirit,
is with us, in us, among us around us...
Get in touch with that ineffable presence..
Be conscious of that peace-giving presence,
that healing presence,
that saving presence.
Be conscious of your inner experiences of joy, peace, anxiety, doubt,
anger, love, sadness, uncertainty, enthusiasm, boredom...
Our daily life is made up of such experiences (inner movements)...
They in fact influence the decisions that we make in our day-today life...
Examining such experiences and discerning them would be a great help
in determining whether those experiences are life-affirming or life-denying...
If they are life-affirming and positive give thanks to God of all goodness.
But if they are recognized as life-denying and negative ask the Lord
to heal us. Pray an "Our Father"...

No Greater Love thant this

Behold the Handmaid of the Lord, be it done unto me according to your word...
No greater love than this!
Laying down his life for us all!
--------------------------
Has anyone searched the depth of God's love?
Is Jesus Christ "an idea" for me?
Is he the Saviour-God for me?
---------------------------------
When did I meet Jesus Christ last?
Or better still,
have I ever met/experienced him at all?
---------------------------------
CHOOSING CHRIST IN THE WORLD (A prayer for you and me) "I choose to breathe the breath of Christ that makes all life holy. I choose to live the flesh of Christ that outlasts sin’s corrosion and decay. I choose the blood of Christ along my veins and
in my heart that fills me with joy. I choose the living waters flowing from His side
to wash clean my own self and the world itself. I choose the passion of Christ
to charge my senseless sorrows
with meaning and to make my pain redemptive. I choose You, Good Jesus, You know. I choose you Good Lord;
count me among those whom You have won in bitter suffering. Make me safe from all that seeks to destroy me. Summon me to come to You. Grant me the grace to choose Christ in the world. Allow me with all the angels and the saints
to exult in all You mean to do for me and for all for ever and ever.
AMEN."
